12th EDCTP Forum

📣 EUCLID was honoured to participate in the 12th EDCTP Forum in Kigali, Rwanda (June 15–20, 2025)!

📢 PREVAC/ PREVAC-UP: A Decade of Ebola Vaccine Research and Capacity Building

Thank you for joining us on Wednesday, June 18 10:45–12:15 | Auditorium for the symposium “Ebola vaccines beyond the PREVAC-UP trial: lessons, impact and the future of epidemic preparedness in Africa”.

Together with our colleagues, we’ll look back on the PREVAC journey, a large randomized clinical trial that evaluated different Ebola vaccine strategies across West Africa. A session to reflect on key lessons, impact, and future perspectives for epidemic preparedness through research.

Under the stewardship of Prof. Yves Lévy (Chair), our PREVAC_UP symposium, organised by Inserm, EUCLID and the PREVAC/PREVAC‑UP consortium, shared eight years of experience on Ebola vaccine research in West-Africa.

🎤 Thank‑you to our speaker line‑up:
– Dr Ilo Dicko, Dr Abdoul Beavogui, Dr Edward Choi: “From trial to impact: lessons from the Prevac-up Ebola vaccine study in west Africa (Mali, Guinea and Sierra Leone)”
– Dr Edouard Lhomme: “Beyond the trial: building sustainable research capacity for epidemic response in Africa and Clinical Research capacity”
– Dr AurĂ©lie Widemann: “Ebola vaccines and the next pandemic: long term immunity, modeling & future strategies”
The session closed with a lively panel on “Translating Research into Policy & Preparedness.”

🤝 This symposium was the culmination of 10 years of collective effort: a comprehensive overview that highlighted the incredible work led by the clinical sites, alongside major advances in immunology, modelling, capacity building, and social science. We can truly be proud of all that has been accomplished.

🙏 A big thank you to all colleagues & partners for these inspiring and insightful moments and also to collaborate on building a stronger, more sustainable research future for Africa and beyond! A heartfelt thank you to Global Health EDCTP3 for the remarkable organisation of the forum and for providing such a valuable platform to share and connect.

Keen to collaborate on capacity building, immunology, or modelling for epidemic readiness? Happy to connect, let’s keep the conversation going!
